Welcome!

If you love the written word as much as I do, my hope is that you will consider your visit here today, time well-spent.

It is my belief that books are meant to be read – not to be made money out of. I do not believe in marketing my books for profit. Present-day technology helps reduce the cost of books significantly.

This website is the outcome of that realization – to use technology to make books affordable to all.

Digital publishing and the Internet make it possible to cut the middle-man out almost completely (but not quite!). There is still a tab, though. The price is meant to offset, at least partly the cost of digital publishing, copyright, web-hosting, and ISBN fees.

You can download a digital version of any of my books (be it in the EPUB, MOBI, or PDF format), for only $1.99.  And if this price is on the high side for someone with limited means in any part of the world, I would be happy to send him/her a PDF version of the book totally gratis. (Not a hard sell, but you can buy all five English books for just $9.95 or add the Russian and Armenian translations for $13.97!)

The prices of the digital versions of the books available from other online sources like Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook have also been lowered to $1.99. The traditional print versions will, of course, will cost a lot more due to the cost of materials.

All books have been painstakingly proofread afresh and completely reformatted for the digital medium, using hyperlinks and other enhancements. After many experiments with other software, I finally settled on Calibre (more on its creator Kovid Goyal in a future post) for creating the e-books in the various formats. I was delighted when my e-book creations passed the validation test of the International Digital Publishing Forum. (By the way, the big online distributor, Smashwords, has placed all my books in the premium category of technical excellence in their online store.)

The portfolio also includes Armenian (Արմինեի սիրո համար) and Russian (РАДИ ЛЮБВИ К АРМИНЕ ) versions of For the Love of Armine. These language versions are being offered for the first time in electronic format on the Internet, as the policy of the big online stores do not allow the distribution of foreign language e-books from the US.

To keep costs low for the reader, the books are not DRM protected. I rely on the honor system (or the trust system as it is called in England) for readers to respect the terms of the copyright and use the downloads for their individual use only.

On ‘The Bookshelf’ tab you will find information about each of the books selectable from the drop-down menu.  You can also purchase books in the format of your choice form the book-pages. With the passage of time, I’m hoping these pages will also feature comments from readers like you.

My only request is that after reading a book, you take a few minutes to leave your thoughts or comments in the box for comments at the foot of the page for that book.

You can find posts (not much of a fan of the term blog) by yours truly on the Posts’ tab.

Please feel free to use the ‘Get in Touch’ page to connect. I promise to respond personally to each message.

This website is completely self-made and I have no one else to blame but this bumbling amateur for any hiccups. It has taken me four months of trial and error to get it to this shape. Will be grateful for feedback if you come across any bugs. Will do my best to fix them as quickly as I can.

Thank you for visiting and for your patronage and support!

Abie Alexander.
